Have you got a dog breeder website for your breeding business? And if you do, is it actually working? Do you know if it’s working or not? Have you checked?
Here’s some simple things you can do to see if your website is working for you or not. And I want to give you the free tools you can use that assess your website performance. So let’s go.
1. Where Does Your Dog Breeder Website Show Up in Google Search Results?
The first thing that you need to check to see if your website’s working is to just type into Google search and pretend you’re a buyer.
First you type in your breed. That might be Airedale Terrier. And then you put on the end of that “puppies for sale”, and then you can either tack on your nearest big city or your state or both and just try that out and just see whereabouts in the search engine results Google puts you.
For example: For a breeder Airedale Terriers in Illinois, you would put this into search – Airedale Terrier puppies for sale IL or Airedale Terrier puppies for sale Chicago
The image here shows what happens when I type in my breed – Schnauzers – along with puppies and my state WA (Western Australia). You can see my website comes up #1 and my Facebook page comes up #2. That’s what you should be aiming for! And that brings me heaps of puppy enquiries every single day.
If your website is not coming up on the first page of Google when you put that search in there, then I’m sorry but it’s just not working for you, and you need to do something about it. The lower down the page it comes up, the dramatically less are the number of people who will click on it. And if you are on page 2 results or later, forget it.
Now, there’s two main reasons why websites don’t work for breeders, and I’ll tell you what they are right now.
2.
How to Check if Your Dog Breeder Website is Load Speed is Too Slow
The first one is that your website can be loading too slowly.
If your website’s loading too slowly, Google doesn’t like that because it likes to dish up a good experience for visitors and visitors don’t tend to like websites that load slowly.
We often click away from a website if it takes more than just one or two seconds to load, don’t we? If your website’s slow to load, Google just won’t dish it up as a search engine result high in the rankings.
There is a free tool you can use, and you just put in your URL into that tool and click enter to check.
Here is the link you can use to see how fast your dog breeder website is loading.
3. Most Websites for Breeders Are Mobile Friendly But… Here’s How to Check!
The other thing that you need to check, especially if you’ve got an older website, is how mobile friendly it is.
Now most of the newer breeder website themes are mobile friendly. That means they look good from any device, whether you open the website from a tablet or a laptop or a mobile phone.
So here’s another free tool you can use to check how mobile friendly your dog breeder website is.
And that’s definitely something you should aim for and fix if it is not mobile friendly.
3. Other Tactics to Boost The Search Engine Rankings of Your Dog Breeder Site
Those are two main things. The great news is your dog breeder website doesn’t need perfect performance to rise to the top. Why? Because the competition is weak. What I mean by that is most dog breeders don’t know what they are doing when it comes to building their website. So you only have to be a little bit better to beat your competitors and dominate the market!
In particular, most breeders focus on looking pretty. They don’t put nearly enough information about their breed on their websites.
So once you’ve got those first two sorted out, then you need to be looking at creating good content, the sort of content that’s answering people’s questions when they’re looking for information about your breed. And you need to be doing it in a way that Google knows what you’re talking about and will dish up your results at the top of those kinds of queries.
That’s what we teach in the Elite Breeder Formula and if you’re interested in learning more about it, then you should first watch the FREE Marketing for Dog Breeders webinar, then afterwards you can book a free strategy call with me. I hope to talk with some of you soon!
